Bible-a-Month Club members give a monthly donation to enable the Bible Society to make at least one Bible available to someone at an affordable price. Not only do they help the Bible Society of South Africa produce more Bibles for South Africa, but also for Africa and the world.

Bible-a-Month Club project for May 2013
Bibles for Grade 7 learners
Thousands of the about 28 850 government schools in the country are in poor areas and have to overcome a myriad challenges daily. Most of these schools suffer from a lack of infrastructure, security problems, vandalism, violence and a high rate of teacher and learner absenteeism. These schools are also faced with serious social problems like teenage pregnancy, HIV/Aids and alcohol and drug abuse.
Churches and Christian organisations which work in these communities, as well as Bible Society staff who work at grassroots level, made the Bible Society aware of the huge need for Bibles in these schools.
It was decided to make Bibles available free of charge for Grade 7 learners in schools in poor areas. During 2012, some 50 000 Bibles were distributed through this project. The project is managed responsibly. Churches and Christian organisations help to identify the schools in most need of Bibles.
Grade 7 learners are the target group because they are at an age where they can read with understanding, which means that the Bible is accessible to them. These children are at the start of their teenage years and in the phase of life where they are especially impressionable. The Bible message can help to establish a value system which will assist these children in making the right life choices.
R1 million is needed to once again make about 50 000 Bibles available to Grade 7 learners in poor schools.
Pray for:
- each child who will receive a Bible through this project
- the teachers who must often work in difficult circumstance.
