Home what you can do pray for bible societies

pray with the bible societies

This weekly prayer guide informs us about Bible work in a particular country and covers the areas that the national Society would like us to focus on.

This week we pray for ...

Madagascar
Thank God for his provision for the revision of the Protestant Bible and pray for this year’s launch. Ask, too, for a good start to the Study Bible project. Pray for peace and political stability. Remember also the celebration of the bicentenary of Bible work in the Indian Ocean, asking that many people will become involved. Pray for Bible work on Mayotte and ask for more openings for the Gospel on the Comoros Islands.

Mauritius
Praise God for the impact of the Créole New Testament. We will use this as the basis of an initiative to encourage spiritual growth: pray that thousands of people will be touched by the Gospel message. Give thanks for our 200th anniversary, asking that this will give our ministry new impetus. Pray for the development of Bible work in Réunion and for our efforts to use the Bible message to address the problem of teenage pregnancy in Rodrigues.

Seychelles
Translating the Bible has been our main activity in recent decades. Our small group of four translators has declined to only two: one full-time and one part-time. Pray that God will provide additional translators so that this project can continue to make progress. Continue to remember our faithful donors, our staff and our board members. Give thanks for the production of the Book of Isaiah in Kreol Seselwa, due to be launched soon.

Mozambique
Praise God for the impact of the Good Samaritan programme. Thank him, too, that our six ongoing translation projects are nearing completion. Rejoice in the completion and launch of the New Testament in Cicopi, Xirhonga and Emakhuwa. Give thanks also for the successful implementation of our TAZI project. Pray for our rural literacy project and for the continued impact of the Faith Comes By Hearing programme. Ask for openness for Church leaders as they join us in challenging churches to make greater use of the Scriptures.
