On 24 November 2012, the isiNdebele Bible was launched. All 11
official languages of our country now had a complete Bible.
Testaments
for tomorrow’s church leaders
First-year students at the Full Gospel
Church of God Theological College
recently received Hebrew and Greek
Testaments from the Bible Society.
The Testaments were handed over
by Dr Moses Hobe. Dr Hobe is a full-
time lecturer at the college and is also
closely involved with the Bible Society.
“These Testaments would go a
long way to enrich students’ under-
standing of the text as they studied it
in the original language,” he said.
The Bible Society is able to help
theology students in this way,
thanks to an annual donation it
receives from the German Bible
Society. These Testaments are very
expensive and are usually distributed
among second-year students who
study Hebrew, Greek and Latin. “We
try to approach the theology schools
of as many denominations as possible
to provide these to their students,”
says Dr Francois Sieberhagen, the
Bible Society’s Mission Programmes
Manager.
